Board President
SUSAN BOWMAN
Susan joined Red Tide in 1994 when she was Creative Director of Publications at Sesame Street and could walk to work after a morning workout. Early on she competed in pool competitions — nothing longer than a 200 IM or better yet a 50 backstroke — then moved on to triathlons for 15 years competing primarily in Olympic distance and an occasional half-Ironman and now enjoys the challenge of long-distance open water swimming. Over the almost 30 years Susan has been a member of Red Tide she has served on the board twice before and has made a lifetime of friends.

Secretary
AMANDA ALMON
Amanda joined Red Tide in 2015 after moving to New York and New Jersey for a teaching opportunity. Amanda is an Associate Professor and Medical Illustrator/Animator at Rowan University, where she teaches Biomedical Art and Visualization (Medical and Scientific Illustration) and serves as the Program Coordinator for the BFA Program. Early on Amanda swam on the middle and high school swim teams. Since joining Red Tide, her teammates encouraged her to swim more distance in open water swim events. She now enjoys exotic swim vacations and events around the world, most notable locations include Croatia, Italy, and Greece. Her favorite body of water is the Mediterranean sea and any body of water that is not too cold.
Board Member / USMS Coordinator
DEBRA FUNG
Deb grew up as a New York City kid who took some swim lessons in junior high school PE, and at the YMCA. She barely swam and was scared of deep water, but she always wanted to be a swimmer. Much later in life, Deb signed up for adult swim lessons to “swim better” and the instructor told me to practice swimming laps and join a master’s team instead. Ever since then, she swam with masters teams as she relocated to various cities. Red Tide is the best!

Deb began swimming with Red Tide in 2008. A year later she left for school in Vancouver, but Red Tide welcomed me whenever she was back for break. Deb returned in 2012. The team has given her so much opportunity for growth, she swam her first race and her first open water events with Red Tide. She is so grateful for the top notch coaching, the camaraderie, the pools, and the inspiring swimmers. On dry land, Deb works as a child and family psychotherapist/art therapist and a mental health consultant with a specialty in early childhood and trauma informed care. She also keep up her studio practice in painting. Visit her website

ERIC LEE
I’ve been swimming with Red Tide for over a decade. I joined with no prior experience with team
swimming and was appreciative of the warm welcome from team members and the thoughtful,
attentive coaching. I still am.
Outside of the pool, I’m an urban planner and an entrepreneur.
I also serve on the boards of the Center for an Urban Future and the Center for Justice Innovation (I
promise to vote against any proposals to rename our team the Center for Swimming Excellence!)
Board Member
JESSICA MCRORIE
Jessica joined Red Tide nearly a decade ago to get back into swimming and to improve her physical fitness but stayed for the Red Tide family. It was with Red Tide where she completed her first ever open water swim in the waters at Coney Island Beach but later went on to complete a 10,000K swim in Vermont with the support of her teammates. However, her heart is in the pool and swim meet competitions where you will find her working on her butterfly and breaststroke.
Become a Red Tider.
